pengertian

Simple future tense adalah tense yang digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu perbuatan yang akan dilakukan di masa depan (rencana). Dikatakan simple karena tidak ingin menunjukkan bahwa rencana tersebut telah selesai (perfect) atau sedang dilakukan (continuous). Dan dikatakan future karena terjadi di masa yang akan datang.

 Rumus

Karena rumus ini simple (sederhana), maka rumusnya pun sederhana. Kita hanya memerlukan Verb-1 (base form) ditambah will/going to sebagai ciri-ciri rumus future tense. Sehingga rumus dasar kalimat verbalnya adalah: S + Will/Going to + Verb -1 .

 * Complement bisa berupa kata sifat (adjective), kata benda (noun) atau kata keterangan (adverb).

Kegunaan  

A. will

• Menyatakan Future action. penanda (tomorrow, next year/mount/week etc, tonight, soon, this evening) 

Contoh : 
-  Nurul travels a lot. Today she is in Malang. Tomorrow she will be in blitar. Next week she will be in Pontianak 
-  My dad will go out this evening

•  Menyatakan niat (intention)

Contoh :
-  I shall come for a dinner
-  We will be back soon 
-  i will not come for a dinner

• Memutuskan melakukan sesuatu pada saat biacara

Contoh :
-  it is raining. I will take an umbrella 

• Menyatakan kemauan (willingness) atau ketidakmauan (unwillingness)

Contoh : 
-  I dont understand this problem. Consult your lawyer abour it. He will help you
-  I will not listen to this nonsense.

• Menyatakan janji

Contoh : 
-  I will pay off all my debt on Monday. i promise. 

•  Untuk prediksi a future situation/happening.

Contoh :
-  Do you think Sam will pass the exam ? 
   I think, He will pass the exam
-  the sky looks dark. I think it will be rain


B. Going to

• Menunjukan action yang telah diputuskan sebelumnya (in the past) untuk dilakukan(in the future)

Contoh :
-  Lina : "I hear Wahid has won some money. What is she going to do with it ?"
   Nick : "She'is going to buy a new car"
-  Sriyanto is going to sell his bike

• Menunjukkan sesuatu yang pasti akan terjadi atau akibat dari sesuatu karena ada bukti yang mendasari

Contoh : 
-  The man can't see where he's walking. There is a wall in front of him. he is going to crash by wall.
